Participating in the comment section of each separate post will enter your name into a drawing for a free Reading Horizons v5 Condensed Teacher’s Kit (refer to question section at the bottom of this post for more information).
Condensed Manual Overview
Similarly to the Comprehensive Manual, the new Decoding Strategies for Literacy Development Condensed Manual provides teachers with lesson plans for teaching students the fundamentals of reading through decoding strategies.

Decoding Strategies for Literacy Development Condensed Manual
Differences from Comprehensive Manual
The Condensed Manual covers the same concepts and contains all 68 lessons and 13 most common word list lessons found in the Comprehensive Manual, but with less-detailed content. Because of the nature of the Condensed Manual it is more appropriate for one-on-one instruction or as a supplement when the software is the primary source of instruction. Also the Condensed Manual does not include the Enrichment Activities found in the Comprehensive Manual lessons.
5 Key Updates (5 Additional Updates on Comprehensive Manual post)
- The new Decoding Strategies for Literacy Development Comprehensive Manual lesson content and activities were rewritten with the goal of matching the materials to the maturity level of the 10-adult age group taught with Reading Horizons v5.
- The organization of the entire manual was improved by matching the lesson numbers in the manual to the lesson numbers of Reading Horizons v5 software.
- Word lists and word banks were changed to include high-frequency words.
- Each Chapter Overview has been rewritten.
- Most Common Word List lessons now have more information on how to teach the material.
