English Language Enhancement (ELE) Overview

The English Language Enhancement (ELE) was created for students that are learning English as a second language. The ELE helps students in their quest to learn English by helping them: understand why they want to improve their speaking abilities, set goals for their language learning, evaluate the strategies they have used in the past, experiment with new strategies, and review their experiences and select which methods are most effective for them personally. The ELE workbook focuses instruction in three main areas: vocabulary, pronunciation, and culture.

English Language Enhancement

Vocabulary Building

The vocabulary portion of the ELE encourages students to enhance their vocabulary through learning and trying different techniques and activities, such as:

-    Create & Use Flashcards
-    Learn Word Families
-    Sort Vocabulary
-    Study Prefixes & Roots
-    Guess the Meaning of Words from Context
-    Use a Dictionary
-    Create Word Webs
-    Select Words to Learn
