Professional Development Training Overview
Recently our Reading Specialist wrote an article titled: “How Did You Learn to Read.” The article discussed that because learning to read is natural for about 70% of the population it is very difficult to know the proper way to teach reading. Reading development simply occurs for so many people that they do not know the steps and processes that go into developing the skill.
Through research and years of improvements, Reading Horizons has worked to uncover the best practices for spurring reading development, these practices are helpful for anyone learning to read, but especially for the 30% of the population which will not intuitively grasp reading. By teaching students strategies that promote reading success from the beginning of their reading education, reading intervention can be prevented in the future. To help teachers guide students to reading success, Reading Horizons offers Professional Development training in addition to its curriculum manuals and software.
