Best Educational Software Reading Website Awards

by Christine

This week we got news that we won not one; not two; but three reading program awards.

Reading Horizons received recognition for its two reading programs from the 17th Annual Bessie Awards. Reading Horizons’ Discover Intensive Phonics won the Early Learning, Reading Website category and also the Multi-Level Reading category for the Reading Horizons v.5 online reading system. There is an institutional and home-use version of the software.

This prestigious award for Best Educational Software targets innovative and content-rich programs and websites that provide parents and teachers with the technology to foster educational excellence. Winners are selected from titles submitted by publishers around the world.

Later this month in National Harbor, Maryland, Heidi Hyte, Reading Horizons’ ESL Director and Curriculum Manager, will be presented with the 2011 Practitioner Presentation Award from the Council for Exceptional Children – Division on Autism and Developmental Disabilities. Portions of Heidi’s presentation, A Hands-on Approach for Struggling Readers will be available later this month.

While it is always nice to be recognized for product excellence, we never forget that we are here to help students and educators remove the stigma of illiteracy and that’s what really matters most.
