Our latest spotlight for our In Your Own Backyard series is Chelsea Miner. Chelsea is actually one of my good friends and as I was talking to her a few months ago and telling her about my job she told me she had dyslexia. We talked about it and I was so impressed with her story that I had to get her to let us spotlight her. She willingly complied.
Chelsea first found out she had dyslexia in elementary school and started out having a bit of bitterness about her difficulties with reading. Her story is so inspiring because of the way her attitude and perspective has changed over the years. As she was learning to cope with and accept her dyslexia, she focused on developing her outstanding artistic abilities. Now she has grown to accept everything about who she is, dyslexia and all.
It was interesting to hear her story because as I’ve known Chelsea I’ve always noticed how devoted she is to being herself. One of the qualities I respect most in a person. It was fun to hear how she came to be the good person she is.
