Reading Horizons would like to honor those schools that are going above and beyond in the cause of literacy. Every individual can benefit from having the proven foundation of research based strategies to become efficient readers. Schools that implement Discover Intensive Phonics for Yourself effectively are providing this solid foundation and we want to recognize them. Each month we will spotlight these schools and share their success.
The Penny Lane School located in Oak Lawn, Illinois has been using Discover Intensive Phonics for more than 10 years with children ages 4-5.
“The first year I used this program with my kindergarten class, I was amazed at how quickly we went through the alphabet. By Thanksgiving, my class was putting letters together and sounding our words. At the end of the school year, my kindergarten class was reading stories off of the shelf to preschool children at my center.”
