We want to enlist your help to create an army of reading specialists to attack the literacy problems that haunt and inhibit our nation. An army that is stationed in every school and every classroom across the country fighting for the cause of literacy. An army that prevents students from getting frustrated and giving up before they even have a chance to succeed. We want YOU (and every teacher for that matter) to become a reading specialist.

Reading Horizons Company President, Tyson Smith, discusses his vision for making "every teacher a reading specialist" and the impact he feels this will have on the education system as a whole.

To help us achieve this goal, get into training! We provide a Free Online Workshop which provides teachers with a complete overview of the Discover Intensive Phonics method. This method has been used for over 30 years to effectively teach beginning and struggling readers how to read!

The workshop can be completed in about 5 hours and can be paused and reviewed at anytime during the free access we provide every teacher for 30 days.

I am really impressed by the things I see on this program. I am from Brazil and as far as what I see it could be use in classroom down there perfectly helping student with intonation improving systematically those who need help speaking.

I think this program is good for Filipino Teachers, on how to improve the way of producing the sounds of speech ,including articulation,stress, and intonation.

As a teacher in Japan, I have seen so many students that hate to study English. I started to notice the once that have given up, because they do not have the skills to read. Now add on its another language. So I will try my best and fallow the Reading Horizons program. I am a believer in this system and will use it to the best of my skills. Hello. I have just read Vivienne F Thornton's comments (where are you based?) and believe we have stumbled on to this website at a similar time and in the same country - Australia. I too am a LLN and ESL teacher (at a Community College at present) currently completing a Master of Ed (TESOL) and would very much like further information about the promotion/distribution possibilities for this product in Australia. I have begun explicit phonics instruction linked with increasing phonological awareness for both my first and second language adult learners but have just taken the tour and now downloaded the 30 day free PD trial. This product seems so logical, straight forward and sequential that I can't wait to start! Are there any other research links that you could email me apart from those on the website?

Hi I stumbled across your website while researching phonics activities for my adult students. I downloaded the free trial and will be using it for the trial period with my students. After one session on the program, my struggling students commented that they liked the program and wanted to do more of it. I hope the enthusiasm keeps up! One problem that I have with my ESL students is the American accent. Are there any plans to change to an Aussie accent? Are there any distributors in Australia? If this program does what it says it does I would love to be involved in it's marketing in Australia. Thank you in advance Vivienne Thornton LLNP Teacher

I spent 25+ years as a special ed teacher/administrator and have researched most of the phonics programs presented in that time. When I was told about DIP, I thought "Oh, another one...". However, this program is the most logical program and I have seen dramatic improvement in students for whom other phonics programs had not worked. Not only do students learn reliable decoding skills, but those transfer to significantly improved encoding skills as demonstrated by spontaneous spelling. I have used this program with remedial students (up to and including adults), and had them repeatedly comment "Oh, NOW I get it...". I continue to recommend this program to teachers and parents when consulted about struggling students.

I teach beginning ELL and now understand English phonics. It will be much easier to teach now.

This will help my 5th graders! They come into my class afraid and embarrassed to sound out words. I think this will help them solve the mystery! This is exactly what I was hoping to learn. Thanks!

Your company is a blessing to me! My awesome principal introduced me to your program. My nephew is dyslexic and WE have struggled for years with reading. Since I teach first grade, I plan to not only implement it into my classroom but also with my 11-year-old nephew, who is on a second-grade reading level. I am IN LOVE with this program! As a teacher of reading since 2000, I was introduced to and used several different programs for teaching struggling readers. Needless to say, I was frustrated with the slow progress and no one program was flexible enough to help a wide range of students. Then one day, I was surfing the internet for educational information regarding dyslexia, and happened up Reading Horizons. Fortunately, you offered an online tutorial for teachers. It was easy to use, and was able to complete it in record time. I loved it! The program fit with my philosophical beliefs regarding reading instruction. I immediately ordered my first kit, and never looked back. I continue to purchase products from Reading Horizons to supplement my teaching experience and it just gets better and better.
