The environment the teachers and administrators have created is clearly focused on the success of students, and it shows in their results. 100% of kindergarten students on target for reading, a goal only achievable when a team of educators pull together to create something special.

Neshaminy School District was selected to receive the Lockhart Award because of the passion the teachers approach literacy instruction and the desire the children have to learn. The individuals in the Neshaminy School District teach for the right reasons and yearn to see the fruit of their instruction in the lives of their students.
November 2016 - Stanton County Elementary School
Stanton County Elementary School was selected to receive the Lockhart Award because of their effort to center the day of their students around reading. The teachers and administrators at their Johnson, Kansas campus are dedicated to changing lives through the power of literacy.
