Since the software's initial release, HEC Reading Horizons has consistently upgraded its capabilities while also incorporating support for new technologies.
New Features for Version 4.0:
- A new Progress Assessment includes four components: 1) Word-Recognition test, 2) Most Common Words assessment, 3) Nonsense Words assessment, and 4) Phonemic Awareness activity.
- The new Phonemic Awareness Assessment is composed of seven unique areas, including: rhyming, syllabication, initial consonant sounds, final consonant sounds, medial vowel sounds, blending, and sound identification.
- The Progress Assessment report provides data for the most recent assessment. The Assessment Summary provides a snapshot of all recorded assessment data. New Report allows teachers to choose an entire group or select students and print a report for all of them at the same time.
- Fun with Phonics activities, accessed through the Lesson Manager, allow students to reinforce concepts in an engaging way. These activities are enabled as students progress through the lessons. Each activity uses skills learned previously and utilizes dynamic content.
