Announcing the Release of
Reading Horizons 4.1

January 3, 2007

Reading Horizons, Inc., a premier provider of multi-sensory computer software, is proud to announce the release of Reading Horizons version 4.1 software. Since its original release in 1986, Reading Horizons has been used on a daily basis by thousands of users to ensure reading success for students of all ages.

Reading Horizons version 4.1 was released January 3, 2007, and includes both enhancements to existing capabilities and new product functionality. Since the software's initial release, Reading Horizons has consistently upgraded its capabilities while also incorporating support for new technologies.

New Features for Version 4.1:

  • The Mastery, Drill, and Practice module of Reading Horizons has been expanded to include industry specific words. Students will be able to practice their phonetic skills with words relating to school, travel, hospitality, medicine, and business. This addition should be especially helpful for ESL/ESOL students. The ESP Word Study features vocabulary development with definitions, contextual examples, and graphic representations. The ESP module increases the total number of words in the MDP to 4,000+ and is included with a new 4.1 software purchase.
  • Alternative language soundtracks make the narrator's directions accessible to non-English speakers. Reading Horizons currently offers a Spanish translation. Additional language narrations are now available, including Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, and Haitian-Creole. As with the Spanish translation, the languages can be enabled for select students by clicking on the desired translation in the Administration system. Students can then elect to have pieces of the narration repeated in their native language by clicking on a button. The new alternative language narration option requires Reading Horizons 4.1 with English for Special Purposes.
