Project Read

Project Read is a non-profit organization. The purpose of Project Read is to provide individualized instruction in basic reading and writing to adults in Utah County who have low literacy skills. Project Read trains volunteers from the community to work with the adults. The primary objective is to help these adults achieve self-sufficiency and skills that will benefit them as an individual, family member, and community member.

Project Read Classroom

Project Read is the only non-profit organization in Utah County that focuses exclusively on adult literacy. Project Read accepts students who are at least 16 years of age, speak English competently, and test at or below a 7th grade level in reading or language. Project Read students come from all walks of life...the recent immigrant who needs help attaining reading and writing skills in English to function in society, the high school graduate who has lived here his entire life and yet knows no more than the first letter of his first and last name and does not have the skills to be trained for a high-tech job, the high school dropout who only reads at a second-grade level and now has three children she cannot help with schoolwork or even read a note sent home from the teacher.
