Give your students a lift.

Progress is exciting. It builds motivation and engagement—the exact behaviors you want to see in your students...especially the ones that struggle.

The Reading Horizons Elevate software program was designed to help struggling readers quickly see progress in their reading. This goal is now more accessible with the re-release of the software. The all-new computer-administered assessments help students receive deeply-targeted instruction without adding to a teacher’s already-heavy workload.

Elevate v7 Word Decoding
The Lexile® Framework for Reading evaluates reading ability and text complexity on the same developmental scale. Unlike other measurement systems, the Lexile Framework determines reading ability based on actual assessments, rather than generalized age or grade levels. Recognized as the standard for matching readers with texts, tens of millions of students worldwide receive a Lexile measure that helps them find targeted readings from the more than 100 million articles, books and websites that have been measured. Lexile measures connect learners of all ages with resources at the right level of challenge and monitors their progress toward state and national proficiency standards. More information about the Lexile® Framework can be found here.

Phonics Screener

The Phonics Screener was added to the software to help teachers determine whether a student should receive Reading Horizons Elevate instruction, or if they have already mastered the skills covered in the course. Student data is recorded in the Class Summary Report in the software administration system.

The Phonics Screener requires students to show mastery in spelling 42 words that collectively embody each of the phonics skills taught and practiced in Reading Horizons Elevate. If a student can spell a word on demand, the student shows evidence of mastery in the phonics skills embedded in that word.

Diagnostic and Progress Monitoring Assessments

The software begins with a Diagnostic Assessment that prescribes one of four lesson tracks for each skill: Mastered, Advancing, Basic, or Novice. These lesson tracks ensure students receive completely targeted instruction, keeping them motivated and engaged.

After each chapter, Progress Monitoring Assessments are given to test student mastery of the skills covered in that unit. These assessments provide teachers with data to gauge student progress in connection to the benchmark set in the Diagnostic Assessment.

The updated Class Roll Report provides a quick snapshot of each student’s assessment performance, lesson progress, time spent in software, and other essential data. Teachers and admins can enter their emails to receive the report at set intervals.

The new assessment system in Reading Horizons Elevate makes the software a perfect fit for blended learning environments. Teachers can easily use the wealth of data provided by the software to cater direct instruction to individual student needs.

Help your students lift their reading skills.
