The H410 is two days of hands-on instruction in the Reading Horizons course. Attendees will be familiarized with the history of the methodology; instructed in the basic framework of the program, starting with the alphabet all the way through syllabication; and participate in games and activities to become familiar with what the students experience. The workshop is hands-on and engaging. Teachers are empowered with the proven strategies to help their students' reading improve. Attendees are also instructed in implementation and are familiarized with the different options for presenting the program to their students.

Three-to-five months following the initial Intensive Phonics Workshop (H410-DIP), an additional day of training is desirable. This training is a review of the skills taught in the H410, provides a venue to discuss problems, and instructs in the additional skills taught at the end of the program. Completion of this third day of training, along with practicum hours, completion of a written exam, and the submission of a 20-minute video modeling classroom instruction, qualifies the teacher for teacher certification.

A certified Discover Intensive Phonics for Yourself teacher may apply to become a Certified Workshop Instructor. Applicants must accumulate 150 recorded practicum hours of instruction over a minimum of nine months. Applicants may then attend a three-day Certification Clinic, in which they will review the Discover Intensive Phonics program in detail and then be required to present assigned portions of the course in order to demonstrate complete understanding of the technique and the strategies required to instruct other teachers. Upon becoming a Certified Workshop Instructor, applicants may conduct workshops for schools, districts, and other literacy providers.
The H450 is a one-day workshop for secondary and adult education teachers in which they are instructed in the methodology and software. Attendees are taught the framework of the program, from the slides to syllabication. The workshop is hands-on and engaging. They are instructed on the best place to start with older students and are taken through the software in great detail. They become familiar with both the student and the administration side of the software and are guided as to the best method of instruction to meet their students' needs. (Two-day workshop is available when desired, H410RH.)

The Online Workshop makes the Discover Intensive Phonics for Yourself methodology available to educators - anytime, anywhere. It begins with the presentation of the alphabet and moves through strategies for decoding multi-syllabic words. A track for teachers of students ages 4-9 and another for teachers of students ages 10+ ensures that the content is right on target. The workshop uses full-motion video and animation to bring the concepts to life and allows teachers intermittent practice to embed concepts. Bookmarking allows participants to start and stop as needed, accommodating busy schedules. The Online Workshop can be utilized as a refresher course for those who have already been through a live workshop or can act as a lower-cost alternative for someone learning how to teach the Discover Intensive Phonics approach for the first time.
