What is Funded Authorized activities under Section 4205(A) for before/after regular school hours, including school breaks and summer periods should include, but not be limited to, the following: ? Remedial education activities and academic enrichment learning programs to assist students in improving their academic achievement ? Mathematics and science education activities ? Arts and music education activities ? Entrepreneurial education programs ? Tutoring services, including those provided by senior citizen volunteers and mentoring programs ? Programs that provide after-school activities that emphasize language skills and academic achievement for limited-English proficient students ? Recreational activities ? Telecommunications and technology education programs ? Expanded library service hours ? Programs to promote parental involvement and family literacy ? Programs that provide assistance to students who have been truant, suspended, or expelled to allow the students to improve their academic achievement ? Drug and violence prevention programs, counseling programs, and character education programs
Who is Eligible Any public or private organization is eligible to apply for a 21st CCLC grant. Examples of such agencies and organizations may be, but are not limited to, the following: ? Local Education Agencies (LEAs) ? Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) ? Faith-Based Organizations (FBOs) ? Institutions of higher education ? Non-profit agencies ? City or county governments ? For-profit corporations
Restrictions Any eligible school attendance zones presently served by 21st CCLC grants administered by the Alabama State Department of Education are ineligible to apply. Subgrantees must not supplant previously existing local, state, or federal funds
How to Apply Applications will be available on the Alabama State Department of Education website. Under the Schools & Systems tab there is a link to eGap. Click on this link. It will ask for a username and password, but you don't need one to look at the Document Library link on the left had side of the page. When you are in the Document Library, scroll down to Title 4 - Part D or when you can start seeing 21st Century in titles of documents.
