Title 21st Century Community Learning Centers - Wyoming
State Wyoming
Type 21st Century, Afterschool Programs
Phone (307) 857-9284
Range Between $50,000 and $175,000
What is Funded The purposes of this important program are multiple: to create community learning centers that provide academic enrichment opportunities for children, particularly students who attend high-poverty and low-performing schools; to meet state and local student standards in core academic subjects; to offer a broad array of enrichment activities that can complement the regular academic programs of students; and to offer literacy and other educational services to the families of participating children.
Who is Eligible Any public or private organization is eligible to apply for a 21st CCLC grant. Examples of agencies and organizations eligible under the 21st CCLC program include, but are not limited to: public schools/school districts, charter schools, private schools, non-profit agencies, city or county government agencies, faith-based organizations (including religious private schools), institutions for higher education, and for-profit corporations. While all organizations are eligible to apply, they are required to collaborate with the eligible schools that the participating children attend. The 21st CCLC statute also allows a consortium of two or more agencies, organizations or entities to apply. Each eligible school should be served by only one subgrantee. Every effort should be made by potential applicants and current subgrantees to collaborate and define a unique population to target and serve in order to prevent problems with data collection and duplication. Applicants are not required to demonstrate prior experience in providing after-school programs to be eligible for a grant. However, an applicant that does not have such experience must demonstrate a strong promise of success in providing academic, enrichment and related activities that will complement and enhance the academic performance, achievement, and positive youth development of the students.
