We have started introducing the Reading Horizons to our preschoolers who will be going to Kindergarten in September. They have been so receptive to the program and with modifications are getting the idea of the slide and are putting together CVC words. They have mastered the first skill level and are retaining the information as well as the sight words. The Kindergarten teacher is thrilled as they will have the pre-readiness skills necessary for next year. Since our students have a hearing impairment it is making them use the system to see and understand the ending sounds. It is really fun for them and they are excited to read words and become readers.
Our program as a whole (K-6) have implemented the program as a resource to the curriculum and are finding that the students who are lacking in phonemic awareness are showing a slow but steady success.
