I have one student who has gone from being so disruptive during the dictation process to one who LOVES this part of the lesson. He still can not identify many letters, but he is learning to use visuals around the room to write letters. Recently, due to weather, we have had a lot of inside recess. I often hear a group of students choosing to play Reading horizons 'teacher'. They use my dry erase writing easel and the transfer cards. They take turns being the teacher and "dictating' sounds, slides, and words to the 'students'.
