Preparing Pre-Service Teachers to Teach Beginning and Struggling Readers

Dr. Brian C. Ludlow will discuss the research and techniques for preparing pre-service teachers to teach beginning and struggling readers. Dr. Ludlow will discuss the Reading Horizons Online Workshop--a free resource professors can use to train students with effective strategies for teaching reading, without adding to the workload or limited class time available to each professor. Dr. Ludlow will discuss why and how he uses the workshop with his students.

Brian C. Ludlow has a doctorate degree from Brigham Young University with double emphasis in literacy and psychometrics. His academic employment history includes assistant professor, graduate literacy & education generalist, director of graduate literacy programs at Bemidji State University, and teacher for 10 years--elementary, secondary, and alternative programs.
