Summary of Findings
Students averaged a nearly 2.8 grade level improvement in reading measured by the Slossen Oral Reading Test (SORT). The Reading Horizons program targeted gaps in students’ knowledge in an immediate and sequential manner, boosting student confidence from program start.
Peel Centre has provided academic upgrading and labor adjustment services to individuals in the community for more than two decades. The Centre has a diverse student population.

Twenty-three students and four teachers participated in the study. Students used Reading Horizons interactive software for 40–50 minutes, 3 to 5 days per week. The Slosson Oral Reading Test (SORT) was administered before instruction began and after students completed the program. Data was reported for 17 of 23 students. Fifteen of 17 students completed the program prior to the post-test.
