I am a special education teacher and teach grades K-3. The Reading Horizons program helped many of my students make excellent strides in reading this past year! The layout of the program seemed to connect with many of them and improved not only their decoding, phonemic awareness, and phonics, but also their spelling and writing. One of the most successful students with the program was a second grade girl that I was seeing four days a week for reading comprehension. She started the year off at a beginning first grade reading level. By the end of the year she was reading passages and books on a 2.9 reading level. She made almost a full year and half growth and was only one level behind where she needed to be to enter third grade. What a success! Her confidence improved immensely and she became excited about reading instead of dreading it. I have full confidence that as we continue with the program that she will be able to be on grade level this up-coming year. With the progress that I have seen with my students, I will continue to use Reading Horizons to help meet my students' needs, and to close their learning gap.
