I have been using Reading Horizons in class more with ABE remedial readers and ESL students.
One of my success stories for Reading Horizons actually came from one of my GED Reading testers. Mr. “Smith” was having difficulty with his reading comprehension and speed. Both are integral to doing well on the GED Reading test. I had an idea to put him on Reading Horizons to give him a refresher on phonetics, word structure, and vocabulary. He enjoyed the program so much he did it twice, and passed his GED Reading test. He told me that “I finally knew why words were built the way they are and how to figure them out.”
